Our format is definitely not for everyone. Many people find the show via iTunes and are turned off when they hear in depth discussions about faith, philosophy, family, or some other non-photo related topic. I’ve re-written the iTunes description to make it as clear as possible what this show IS, and is NOT. If personal discussions about the guests’ life is not your thing, that’s cool.

Or, some people DO like to hear personal stories, but unless the photographer is some high profile photog celebrity like Chase Jarvis, Vincent Laforet, or Mike Colon (all of whom have been guests on the audio or video podcast by the way), they don’t care.

You ask “who the heck is Fred Egan?” I assume you ask not because you truly care to know him, but to point out that he is someone who isn’t big enough in the industry for you to know, so who cares. Well, one mission of this show is to introduce our audience to photographers who may not necessarily be household names, but maybe have interesting stories, or an interesting out look on life worth sharing. My hope is that you’d click to his website and learn about him. His work. Try to figure out why I invited him on the show. Next week we’re going to have a photographer who got popular on Flickr. Just an every day woman with an inspiring story to tell.

There are hundreds, if not thousands of photographers in the world whose life stories have had profound affects on their art and/or business. Many (if not most) of the photogs we’ll interview will indeed be well-known figures in the industry. But some will be up-and-comers, mavericks, or just genuinely interesting people. So, this podcast isn’t so much a phtography podcast as it’s a people podcast. The people just happen to be photographers.

One last thing. The mix tape discussion is just fun. As many of our podcasts are. But, Fred’s love for music and the kind he likes DOES inform one of the kind of photography he may do. Does he really need to specifically spell it out for you how his music effects his photography? If he said his favorite artists were Bach and Mozart vs. Cold Play and Death Cab for Cutie, wouldn’t that paint a picture of the kind of work he may do? It does for me. It would at least intrigue me enough to check out his work and find out.

Anyway, thanks again for listening. Not every interview is going to hit home with an audience member. That’s cool. I do appreciate you taking the time to listen though.
