We here at F-Stop Beyond Studios were able to gather never-before-seen concert footage of photographic rock sensation FULL FRAME BOOGIE. Meticulously pieced together from old film footage, this entertaining video brings these long forgotten rock legends back to life.

Behind the Scenes

Life on the road is hard. And it’s made particularly harder when you have to deal with prima donna lead singers who fancy crocodile skin apparel and wipe their brow with Evian-dipped kerchiefs. Here we have rare, never-before-scene footage of the band getting ready for their last recorded concert. Even here we can see the start of drama between some of the band mates and lead singer Jerry “Wunda from Down Unda” Ghionis and his prima donna ways. Who knows if the band will ever play again…

In early October 2008, Brooks Institute hosted a very special F-Stop Beyond: In Living Color, which we produced in partnership with PhotographyMentor.com. A live webcast was held. Renown celebrity wedding and lifestyle photographer Mike Colon took almost three hours of his busy schedule to share his personal and professional take on life and the industry.

Mike has been very public and vocal about his faith. It therefore seems apropos that in this seventh installment of our series with Mike, this is the episode where Mike talks about how and why he mixes his faith with his business. I also challenge him to reconcile his educational message of “image is everything” with the teachings of his faith.

I want to thank everyone who came out to the live webcast interview with Mike Col贸n at Brooks Institute this past Monday. I know we had some technical difficulties maintaining the live video and audio feed. The A/V team went out there last week to check the equipment and of course, everything worked perfect then. The great news though is that we have almost three hours of an in-depth interview with Mike. He covered the gamut: how he got started in the business (the “real” story as he jokingly puts it. The anecdote about how he first called up [b]ecker as a groom in order to get info about wedding photography is classic); exactly how and why he raised his prices as quickly as he did; balancing work and family life; the importance of inner beauty; why he’s so open about his faith on his website and blog (for the record, it was a question from the chat room that prompted that discussion. ; sponsorships; and much, much more. We even had a quest star appearance from David Jay who I invited on stage for a bit. All around it was a terrific event.聽 Again, I apologize for those of you who tried to log on to the webcast. On a beautiful May afternoon, in the Santa Barbara hills, I arrived at the premises of a one David Jay. I had heard all about the magnificent view, and seen little snippets here and there of his “Freedom House.” But today I was going to get to see the whole kit-and-kaboodle, from stem to stern. David gracioiusly invites the F-Stop Beyond cameras into his house, for what I believe is the first ever, head-to-toe tour. It’s so long I had to break it up into two episodes. In true F-Stop Beyond style, it’s more than just a exposition in real estate appraisal. No, folks, along the way, I pick DJ’s brain, learn some technology tidbits, and get a further peak at the man behind the house. From the living room to the library, each room holds a piece to the puzzle of who David Jay really is.

• A special “MTV Cribs” style tour of DJ’s “Freedom House” (available exclusively to e-mail subscribers聽 of F-Stop Beyond TV. This will be a FREE subscription. Stay tuned for more info).
• A special extended interview with DJ (similar to Oprah’s “After the Show”) where DJ will get into more detail about marketing and business. This extended interview will be available exclusively to DJs Freedom Club subscribers.

We’re very excited about this phase of F-Stop Beyond.聽 Next month we’ll have a special sit-down with two of the biggest names in the industry: Denis Reggie and Joe Buissink.

I’m excited to announce that we are in the process of producing a new “visual” flavor of F-Stop Beyond. I’m calling it “F-Stop Beyond: In Living Color.” It will be sort of like “Inside the Actor’s Studio.” In each case, my plan is to have a small “studio” audience, and have the interviews be a little bit longer. We have already shot episode 1 at the Pictage offices in Torrance, CA. Thanks to the Los Angeles Pictage Users Group for allowing us to film. For our inaugural episode, we have none other than Denis Reggie and Joe Buissink. We spent the first 40 minutes or so in true FSB fashion, getting up close and personal. Later on, as I facilitated the Q&A, questions became more business oriented. But even those answers were full of passion and great info. We have a number of other great photographers planned down the line. Three are planned for filming at the upcoming WPPI tradeshow and convention in Las Vegas. Stay tuned for more info.
